Stitches, Ravelry, and Rhinebeck

Once upon a time, the word "Stitches" would make me feel like one of the several ER trips we, as parents of 4 kids, make. But now, oh, joy, it is for "Stitches East," which is my annual weekend away with my friend D who happens to live in that area. We had a blast, as always.

I work in my LYS, so it is a little tough to justify buying a ton of yarn, but... I am not immune, people! Even Mitten Girl has her weakness; think of yarn as my kryptonite. Except somehow I think it gives me strength. And then it becomes the yarn that is controlling me... well, if you are reading this, you get it.

So then, to make my week even more Nirvana-ish, I got my Ravelry invitation. I was waiting since August. And I totally get that Casey the Code Monkey is busy as all getout. But I tell you, it was worth every single minute! I love Ravelry!

And... this weekend is Rhinebeck. Hooray. I have never been. Phooey. But now we are going, yay! By "we", I mean my sweet husband and all the kids. I am so psyched that they are all coming, too. I stay at D's house when I go to Stitches, so obviously I travel alone, or bring just one friend. So to have them all coming to Rhinebeck is really wonderful. There is apparently a lot for the kids to do. However, three of my kids do knit, and pretty darn well, I might add. We also may pile one more friend and her beloved in the big ol' minivan, I will let you know how that works out. Why have an 8 seater if you aren't going to use them all on occasion?

I will let you know how it all worked out, plus I will probably be giving a play-by-play of my time in Baltimore, but I have to say I am a bit busy helping the kidlets with homework at the moment, and Mitten Girl has an even greater weakness for her kids than for her yarn.

Binding off for now,

Mitten Girl
